SCHUMI: VETTEL CAN WIN THE TITLE

“I think it helps to think of a fact which I was always sticking to during my career: It is not over until it is over; you have to fight until the end,” Schumacher told his website.
“At Ferrari we had that experience very successfully over many years, and I am convinced it will be like this again this time. Sebastian as well will probably share this view because he still has the chance to win the title.
This alone is already a big success.
I am sure he will make everything possible to show a good performance in the next two races.
Mathematically everything is still possible, and I will keep my fingers crossed for him.
This F1 season has turned out to be extremely attractive again, and like probably all motorsport fans I am looking forward to seeing what will happen in the last two races.
Both championships are still open, and for me it is obviously important to see how the constructors’ championship will end – of course I hope our guys can defend their third position.” said Schumacher

HILL: BUTTON TO TAKE CONTROL

"The stars of the show at the moment are [Lewis] Hamilton and Vettel - they are definitely showing their class against the field," he said.
Damon Hill says Jenson Button's faltering run towards the world championship is starting to concern him, and hopes his fellow Briton can take control again in the final two races.
"He's obviously still strong enough, he should be qualifying in the top ten or top six, so he's well in with a points scoring chance, and he's got a comfortable lead," he said.
"If you just said that he's fighting for the world championship with two races left and he's got a 14 point lead, you'd say he's looking very comfortable”.

Holiday means different things, depend of the mind set…

Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull:

"I haven’t planned anything so far. I am rather spontaneous and don’t book my vacations in January. I like the mountains and as I live in Switzerland you will probably find me up there, maybe for one week. And, of course, I will spend time in my hometown Heppenheim."

Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber:

"I am looking forward to a real family vacation: (wife) Patrizia, the kids and I will head for a Greek Island. Shush! Which island is a secret

! We will build sandcastles, have picnics on the beach, do all those things that other parents do with their youngsters."

Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber:

"I will stay at home during the summer break. I will relax a little bit. I will go karting and work out a bit. That’s all. Doesn’t read very fancy, does it?"

Jenson Button, Brawn GP:

"After the London Triathlon at the weekend I will relax a bit in the South of France before getting into gear again for the European Grand Prix."

Lewis Hamilton, McLaren:

"I will head to New Delhi for a Vodafone promotional event and as I am already far out east, maybe I will find myself a beach retreat for a week. But honestly, nothing definite is planned yet."

Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren:

"After going back to the factory for a debrief, I’ll head off for two weeks into the sunset. Where? That’s my secret."

Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari:

"After Rally Finland I will relax with friends, maybe a bit motor biking in Finland and then I’ll head to the beach for a bit. That’s the vague plan for the moment."

Adrian Sutil, Force India:

"I will spend a week at home in Switzerland before flying to Bali for a holiday with my family. Bali is one of my favourite destinations. It’s a charming place. Then I will return to Switzerland again, before heading for Valencia for the European Grand Prix."

Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India:

"I will spend time with my family and friends on board my boat, the Fizzy. The plan is to sail in the waters around Sardinia and Corsica and have a good time."

Sebastian Buemi, Toro Rosso:

"I will spend a couple of days at my parents’ home in Switzerland, then go down to Malaga for one week with my physio for a workout. And for a little extra treat I’m going to fly to New York for four days to inhale a bit of metropolis life."

Jaime Alguersuari, Toro Rosso:

"The weekend after Budapest I am racing in Portimao. After that I will head for Ibiza to work on my fitness - and of course have a little fun!"

Sebastian Vettel relishing home advantage against Jenson Button at German Grand Prix

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel, perhaps the only man capable of derailing Jenson Button's serene march to world title glory, says he is looking forward to reaping the benefits of 'home advantage' when the Formula One circus decamps to Germany this week.

Vettel was in imperious form at the British Grand Prix a fortnight ago, cruising to a 20-second victory over team mate Mark Webber on a day when Red Bull suggested they may have opened up a decisive gap to Brawn.

Championship leader Button could only finish sixth, with his lead over third-placed Vettel slipping to 25 points with nine races still to run.

However the Briton later claimed his poor showing had more to do with the fact that he and team mate Rubens Barrichello had struggled to get heat into the Brawn car's tyres in the freezing wastelands of Northamptonshire.

So was Red Bull's huge advantage at Silverstone merely a by-product of meteorological conditions at a high-speed track with minimum braking, or was it was part of an emerging trend?

Warmer temperatures and plenty medium-speed corners at the Nurburgring are expected to provide F1 fans with a clearer picture heading into the second half of the season and Vettel is confident that further improvements to his RB5, plus home advantage, will strengthen his chances of securing victory.

"I'd say it's like a soccer match when you play on your home ground," the 21-year-old said of racing in Germany. "You always give 100 per cent, but in a home race you're even more motivated, because at home you feel comfortable.

"Not far from the Nurburgring, in Kerpen, I got a lot of kart experience which is why I have many friends in this region."

He added: "During the 90 minutes of the race I do not think about which country I'm in, because I am concentrated on racing. But before and after, this is special because being at home is the best place to stay.

"I like it that there are so many fans of motorsport and that these people are cheering and support you with horns, flags and stuff like this. That influences your mood in a positive way.

"There is nothing better than the in-lap in front of your home crowd after winning a race."

Vettel also confirmed that more upgrades could be expected on the Red Bull car this time around.

"The guys in the factory are working hard, so we have new parts at every race," he said, adding that he was looking forward to the unique characteristics of a circuit once dubbed 'The Green Hell' by Sir Jackie Stewart.

"The Nordschleife is a beautiful track – one of the best of all," Vettel said. "It goes up and down, there are many fast corners! It's just fun to drive there.

"For sure the Eifel Mountains are something special, because the weather can change at any time.

"For good reason the Nordschleife is responsible for the myths. The new Nurburgring is one of the better modern tracks. Even the schnitzel in the local pubs is legendary!"
