FORCE INDIA TO CONSIDER CHANDOK AND JANI FOR TESTING ROLE

Force India plan to use McLaren’s Formula One simulator to evaluate Indian driver Karun Chandok and ex-F1 tester Neel Jani, as they ponder their 2010 line-up.
Chennai-born Chandok, 25, is currently racing in the GP2 Series and has long been touted as one of the favourites to become India’s next F1 driver after testing with Red Bull in 2007. Swiss national Jani, whose father is Indian, has Formula One testing experience with Sauber, Red Bull and Toro Rosso and has since raced with some success in series including Champ Cars and A1GP.

BERNIE DISAPPOINTED CHANDOK NOT HIRED

“I was hoping Vijay would give Karun a chance,” Ecclestone told India’s Hindustan Times newspaper. “And I’m a little disappointed that he has put the Italian guy in…
Whether he has to do this by contract I don’t know, but I would’ve liked to see Karun in the car for rest of the season.

“And he has got the talent and the ability, so it’s a case of somebody just getting on and doing it now.
We haven’t seen him in a Formula 1 car to know but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t perform.”

LIUZZI GETS FORCE INDIA CALL-UP

Force India has promoted its reserve driver Tonio Liuzzi into the race team to take the seat left vacant by Giancarlo Fisichella's move to Ferrari.
The move brings Liuzzi back onto the Formula 1 grid just under two years after he lost his Toro Rosso drive and switched to Force India testing duties.
"I can't wait to get back into the car in race trim, particularly at my home grand prix in Monza," said Liuzzi.
